Wine cellar Turhandl
Storage cellars in Hustopece were built more than 150 years ago or perhaps even earlier. Unfortunately, the
town hall burned down in the mid-19th century and with it, all written records. However, historic architecture
represents a perfect introduction to the wine culture, production and its storage.
Wine cellar Turhandl is one of these finest wine cellars and we would like to invite you to enjoy history, folklore, a glass of excellent wine and delicious Moravian home-made meals.
Wine tasting for up to 55 people straight from the barrel is experience you will never forget. Barrels are placed in the cellars of size more than 300 square meters and hidden 12 meters below the surface. A stable temperature of between 9 -11°C ensures the optimal conditions inside the cellar as indicated by presence of noble rot (Rhacodium cellarae).
Highest quality wines from different vintages are stored in our extensive bottle archive.
You will be shown the cellar and the sommelier personally selects a variety of top quality wines and then recommends some of them for tasting as well as for further consumption.
Wine Cellar Turhandl offers you a pleasant stay in several stylish rooms. You can be seated either on the first or ground floor. There is a large hall on the first floor with a fireplace that seats up to 55 people. The other alternative is seating on the ground floor for up to 15 people. Here you will sit close to the original press from the mid-19th century, which is listed among the monuments of Hustopece.
If you decide to visit our wine cellar you will be offered a traditional Moravian cuisine and live folklore music.
Our cellar has already been visited by hundreds of guests from all parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. Among others, we have also hosted members of parliamentary delegations from Belgium, Thailand, the President of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation and the Federal Assembly Mr Jean-Francois Leuba, accompanied by an Ambassador of Switzerland. Regular guests are members of congress, fairs or tourists.
According to tradition of Hustopece, visitors are not welcomed as customers, but as a welcome guest.
You can be sure that your time spent with us will run faster than you would like, as it has done for many clients who visited Turhandl before.
We are looking forward to your visit.
